A cell-based harvest event - JESUS Movie

JESUS Movie

A cell-based harvest event using the "Jesus" video to portray the events of Easter.

A GOOD FRIDAY MOVIE

In this programme, we recommend the use of Jesus Video. You do not need to show the whole video but you only start from the portion where Jesus starts riding on a donkey into Jerusalem. It is approximately at 1hr 08 mins, from the beginning of the tape.

After STAGE 3 -After dinner thrills,

Cell Leader: I hope we have had a good fun time tonight. TGIF means different things to different people. For some, it's when we seek a time of fun and hang loose from the stress of the week of work. For others, it is a relief to be away from the dog-eat-dog world and enter into an environment that is friendly, loving and accepting. TGIF gives many a temporary change of pace, mood and refreshment.

We thank God for Friday ... for Good Friday, because it was on Good Friday, over 2000 years ago, that Jesus Christ who was born into this world, in Bethlehem, died for our sins on the cross.

He spent His early life in Nazareth where He worked as the village carpenter. Jesus Himself was baptized in the Jordan River around A.D. 27. After immediately receiving the Holy Spirit, Jesus overcame the temptation of Satan in the wilderness for 40 days and nights. He then commenced a ministry of teaching and healing, mainly in Galilee.

Throughout His ministry, Jesus was involved in conflict with the religious leaders who feared both His popularity and His power to heal and make people whole.

His last journey into Jerusalem ended in His arrest and death at the time of the Jewish Passover Feast around A.D. 30.

The video that we are about to show you starts from his triumphant entry into Jerusalem on a donkey.

Play video from the part of the part where Jesus sat on a donkey to enter Jerusalem (about 1 hr 08 mins from beginning).

Stop the video immediately after Jesus ascends into the sky.

The total viewing time is about 48 minutes.

(Note: It is important for you to cue the videotape accurately)

WORSHIP AND INVITATION

After the video viewing

Cell Leader:    At this point I would like to invite ………………one of the cell members to tell us what the death of Christ means to him/her.

TESTIMONY

Cell Leader:    "You know, Jesus not only died but He rose again and this resurrection has a direct impact in our lives, in mine and in yours as well. Thank God It's Good Friday. Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know, I know who holds the future, and life is worth living just because He lives ... (lead on into a time of worship)

(At this time, start playing the music to lead into worship. The worship song sheets should be already distributed or strategically placed in the room where it would be easily handed out. The words on these song sheets also tell about Jesus and His love for us.)

Jesus Name Above All Names

It's Your Blood

Only By Grace

Cell Leader:    At this point of our programme, just before we end the Good Friday programme, the members of our cell would like to spend a few minutes sharing with you. After that we would like to pray a prayer of blessing for you.

Make sure that every visitor has someone to talk with. Do not allow anyone to move around.

AWAKEN Drama

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COUNSELORS

A. Getting Ready

All Counselors must wear badges. Different counselors will have different lanyards.

  • Chinese Counselors: Orange lanyards

  • English Counselors: Blue lanyards

  • Children Counselors: Yellow lanyards

  • Lead Counselors (I/C): Green lanyards

      1. We need all Counselors to be present at #03-03 one hour before show to do the following: receive briefing, get files ready, prayer, & welcome visitors at strategic points.

      2. Attire: Smart short sleeves and pants/dresses. No T-shirt or shorts.

      3. Do get some mint freshener if you need.

      B. Altar Call

      1. At the end of the drama, Kelvin Soh will give his testimony and make altar call. Altar call is in both Chinese and English.

      2. When you hear the altar call, come forward to the aisle. Spread yourselves out at the aisle. Don't block the passage way.

      3. Make sure you bring your personal belongings and the Response Kit with you. Don't leave your handbags or personal belongings at your seats.

      4. Face the congregation so that you know who you would wish to minister to. If you see elderly counselees or young children, let the Chinese & KJ Counselors take care of them.

      C. Counseling Those who Come to the Altar

      • General rule-of-thumb

        • Male ministering to male

        • Female to female

        • Try to minister to counselees of similar age or younger.

        • If counselee is much older than you, do get a counselor of similar age group to speak to him.

        • If there are not enough counselors, then it is ok for you to minister to the opposite sex or a much older person.

        • But do be sensitive to cultural norm. Eg: Some older men are not comfortable to be counseled by younger women.

      • Smile when you approach someone. Introduce yourself. Ask for his name.

      • Affirm counselee first. Then ask him what he wants God to do for him. Don't assume everyone comes down to receive salvation.

        • Some may come down to renew their faith in Christ.

        • Some want to know more about Jesus.

        • Some come for you to pray for their immediate problems.

      • Some ice breaking Qs you can ask the counselee:

        • So nice to meet you tonight. Is there something I can help you with?

        • What do you like God to do for you as you make your way to the front?

        • Tonight as you listen to Kelvin Soh, are you touched by his testimony? Would you also like to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ?

      • When Counselee wants to believe in Jesus Christ, check his understanding of the Gospel. Essentially the Gospel can be summarized in 4 points:

        • That God loves him and desires him to have peace and fulfilled life.

        • That he is a sinner and needs God in his life.

        • That Jesus had died on the Cross for his sins.

        • That he can ask Jesus to come into his life to forgive his sins and transform him into a new man.

      • When Counselor wants to know more about the Christian faith, you can use the Bridge Tract to share the Gospel with him. After the Gospel presentation, always encourage him to pray to Jesus to be his Savior and Lord.

      • When Counselee wants God to help him in his life problem, tell him that he can pray freely to God for help, wisdom and guidance.

      • Whether it is for salvation, re-dedication or seeking help, always encourage Counselee to pray personally to God in Jesus' name. You can lead him in such prayer. It is important for a counselee to personally make a spiritual transaction with the Lord.

      • After Counselee has prayed to the Lord, do pray for God's blessing to come into his life. Ask God to fill him with His Holy Spirit.

      • Then affirm and congratulate Counselee for the decision he just made. Explain to him the implication of his decision:

        • He has just made Jesus his Lord and Savior.

        • Jesus has come into his life as he asks.

        • He is now a son of God. God is now his Father.

        • As a son, he can always call on the Lord every moment when he needs wisdom, guidance or help in daily life.

      D. Follow Up After Altar Call:

      • Give Counselee a copy of the Bridge Tract for him to read at home. Get him to fill in the Response Form for his personal particulars. It is important that we also get the name and contact no of his friend who brings him to the drama.

      • Brief him on the things he can do:

        • If he is young, he can come for the FLY meeting on Sat.

        • Or he can come for our Sun Worship service.

        • There is a Christmas Eve Service on 24 Dec evening.

      • Explain to Counselee that as a new Christian, he needs to grow in his faith. We have Follow Up classes on the first 4 Sundays of Jan (from 12:30-1:30 pm). Someone from Church will call him in the next 5 days to touch base with him.

      • After Counselee has left, slot the Response Form into the box at the stage and the Church Staff will follow up from there.

      • Be polite and respectful at all times to Counselees. Respect their decision if they choose not to pray with you or give their particulars.

God will bless you as you serve in this Ministry!
